Eden Hazard has described David Luiz as one of the funniest players in the dressing room at Chelsea and insists that the Brazilian defender is good to have around the team.

Luiz found himself in the headlines last weekend when Antonio Conte decided to drop the Brazilian for Chelsea’s home clash against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

The defender was not even included in the squad as Chelsea sealed a 1-0 victory over the Red Devils in front of their home fans.

It was claimed that Luiz was dropped because he questioned Conte’s tactics in the build-up to the game, but he has since returned to training action at Cobham in recent days.

And Belgian playmaker Hazard insists that Luiz is a positive influence on the dressing room at Chelsea.

Speaking to Soccer AM on Sky Sports, Hazard said: “David Luiz. The geezer, always smiling, so he’s in a good mood all the time.

“It’s good to have people like this in the team.”

Both Hazard and Luiz will be hoping to be back in action for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League affairs with a trip to West Bromwich Albion next Saturday.

Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.

The Blues are aiming to defend their title after having lifted the trophy under Conte last term.
