Frank Lampard: Alvaro Morata comes alive when Chelsea star gets the ball
Frank Lampard says Eden Hazard is helping to bring out the best of Alvaro Morata at Chelsea this season
Frank Lampard believes that Alvaro Morata has already struck up a strong understanding with Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge.
Morata has been making a strong start to life at Chelsea since signing for the Blues from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has been a regular fixture in the first team and has already scored eight goals and made four assists in the Premier League for Antonio Conte’s men.
But aside from his goals, Morata appears to also have struck up a brilliant understanding with Chelsea attacker Hazard, with the pair set to be a force to be reckoned with for the Blues.
And Chelsea legend Lampard has clearly been impressed by the way the pair have been performing for the west London side together in recent weeks.
Speaking to BT Sport after the 1-1 draw with Liverpool FC on Saturday, Blues legend Lampard said: “Eden Hazard is playing further forward and more centrally than he’s ever played.
“The link [with Morata]… they’re just on the same wavelength.
“We know that Hazard can wriggle away from people but Morata, as soon as Hazard is on the ball, comes alive.”
Chelsea return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Swansea City at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are currently 11 points behind leaders Manchester City after 13 games of the new season, and they clearly face an uphill struggle to try and defend their title this term.
