Frank Lampard makes honest admission about Eden Hazard at Chelsea this season
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard thinks Eden Hazard has improved from seasons gone by
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard thinks Eden Hazard has improved on last season’s title-winning form so far in this campaign.
Lampard is Chelsea’s record goalscorer and played alongside Hazard, so is well positioned to judge on the Belgian’s progress.
Hazard was instrumental in Chelsea’s title winning team last season, but doubts over his consistency and aptitude have always seen him come up short in the Ballon D’Or potential list of players.
Lampard, speaking to BT Sport, believes the Belgian flyer has rid himself of any weaknesses he may have had, saying: “I think that’s something he really improved – a couple of years ago he would have ‘party time’ by beating somebody and then coming back to beat them again.”
“Now, he beats them and he’s away. He’s straight at the back four and causing them problems.”
Hazard has made another strong start to this campaign, scoring three goals so far. The Blues star has some way to go before coming close to his best goal tally from last season, 16 in total.
Chelsea grabbed a point in yesterday’s game at Anfield against Liverpool through a late Willian goal. Hazard failed to make a mark in the game, but the Blues player is still the dangerman in Antonio Conte’s side.
Hazard will be hoping to prove Lampard’s words are correct as the season progresses. His side are just three points behind second placed Manchester united in the league table, as the Blues seek to defend their title.
