Frank Lampard admits that Chelsea struggle to produce consistent form when Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante are not available.

The Blues are looking to get themselves back into the Premier League title race this season after having suffered something of a dip in the last few weeks.

Chelsea have since bounced back from their defeats by the likes of Crystal Palace to hoist themselves back into contention for the title.

The west London side also booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday last week following a comfortable 4-0 victory over Qarabag in Azerbaijan.

Chelsea are looking to try and defend their Premier League title this season after having finished top of the table last term.

And former Blues star Lampard feels that Hazard and Kante are the two most important players to the west London side.

Speaking to BT Sport last week, Lampard said: “When everyone’s fit they do have [a good enough squad].

“The critical ones are Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante.”

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Swansea City at Stamford Bridge in the top flight.

The Blues were one of the busiest clubs in the summer transfer window as they signed six players – Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta.
