Pat Nevin warns Chelsea star about ‘monumental’ challenge
The Chelsea legend warns Andreas Christensen about keeping David Luiz out of the team

Andreas Christensen faces a monumental challenge keeping David Luiz out of the Chelsea team, Pat Nevin has warned.
The Denmark international returned from a two-season loan spell at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer.
Christensen has already made one assist in nine appearances in the Premier League in the 2017-18 season so far.
The 21-year-old was controversially named in the Chelsea team ahead of David Luiz for the visit of Manchester United in their last Premier League game.
Christensen masterfully kept Romelu Lukaku under wraps to help the west London side secure a 1-0 win against Jose Mourinho’s side at Stamford Bridge.
Luiz has been training with the Chelsea squad during the international break as Christensen represented Denmark in their World Cup playoff against the Republic of Ireland.
The retired Brazil international won the Premier League title in his first season back at Stamford Bridge alongside fellow centre-halves Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill.
Former Chelsea winger Nevin believes Christensen is facing a tough battle to keep Luiz on the bench in the long term.
“Andreas has done all that and managed to get himself into the team, but now he has to play to a monumental standard every week to stay there,” Nevin told Chelsea’s website.
“David Luiz missed out in the last game but as he was arguably the best player in the team in the Premier League-winning side last season, it underlines the quality around the place and the battle for places.”
Chelsea are in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.
The Blues have lost to Crystal Palace, Burnley and Manchester City this season.
