Frank Lampard believes Antonio Conte needs to find a settled Chelsea team to help the defending champions’ rediscover their title-winning form.

The Italian coach oversaw Chelsea’s humiliating 3-0 loss to Serie A giants AS Roma in the Champions League on Tuesday night to raise doubts about their participation in the latter stages of the competition.

The defending champions have only managed to record two victories in their last six games in all competitions to leave their Premier League title challenge in doubt.

Chelsea will welcome their title rivals Manchester United in their next Premier League game at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening in search of a third successive top-flight win.

The Blues have already lost to Burnley, Crystal Palace and first-placed Manchester City this season to leave Conte’s men nine points behind the Premier League leaders.

Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard believes Conte needs to settle on a consistent starting line-up following a difficult run of results for the Blues boss.

“The players need to stand up and try to get some consistency into the team week in, week out,” Lampard told BT Sport.

“The same faces play so regularly last season.

“It was so important last year. They haven’t had that yet [this season].”

Chelsea have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons to dominate the English top flight.

The title holders are looking to win the Champions League crown for the first time since 2012.
