The title holders injected some momentum back into their title challenge at the weekend thanks to Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over title rivals Manchester United.
The west London side are nine points behind current Premier League leaders Manchester City after 11 games to leave Conte’s men with significant ground to make up.
The Blues have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons to dominate the English top flight under different managers.
Chelsea are looking to become the first Premier League team since Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United to retain their top-flight crown.
Former Blues forward Crooks urged Conte to continue to use his passionate motivation skills to keep Chelsea hungry.
“Conte said in his news conference afterwards that his players had played with enthusiasm, commitment and passion,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“Is it any wonder his players approached this game with those very important elements? Anyone who saw Conte’s reaction to his team’s victory was left in no doubt that here is a man who puts himself on the line for his players.
“Whipping up his team and the home support in an almost frenzied manner is precisely what Conte must do to inject the belief they need to be serious contenders to Manchester City, and to have any chance of retaining the title.”
Chelsea signed six players in the summer transfer window to improve their squad ahead of return to the Champions League.
The west London side have lost to Burnley, Crystal Palace and Manchester City in the Premier League this season.
The Blues will make the trip to West Brom in their next Premier League game at the Hawthorns Stadium.
