Chelsea should be excited about Hazard-Morata partnership, says ex-striker
The Spurs legend talks up Eden Hazard's partnership with Chelsea summer signing Alvaro Morata
Chelsea have an exciting strike partnership on their hands after Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata impressed in a 4-0 win at West Brom, according to Garth Crooks.
The defending Premier League champions eased to an emphatic 4-0 victory over West Brom at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon to continue their impressive league form.
The 26-year-old forward provided a deft pass to release Chelsea summer signing Morata to break the deadlock at West Brom with a clinical finish.
Hazard scored from close range after his initial shot was parried back into the path of the in-form Belgium international following Morata’s brilliant flick.
The 2015 PFA player of the year doubled his tally to help Chelsea wrap up three points in a landslide win at the Baggies.
Hazard and Morata combined for Chelsea’s equaliser in a 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League back in September before the Spanish striker created Hazard’s winner at Bournemouth.
The Chelsea duo caused the Manchester United defence lots of problems as the defending champions sealed a 1-0 win thanks to Morata’s second-half header.
Former Tottenham forward Crooks issued his back for Chelsea’s promising partnership ahead of their trip to Liverpool in the Premier League next weekend.
“He is certainly looking extremely effective alongside Alvaro Morata,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“I saw the beginnings of this partnership against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge recently but did not make too much of it as I thought it just happened by stealth.
“However, having seen it again against West Brom, I am beginning to take the view that both players are looking for each other quite openly.
“I have already remarked this season about the impact on Chelsea losing a player like Diego Costa.
“However, manager Antonio Conte may have been forced to find a new system to accommodate Morata and found two strikers at the expense of one. It looks like it is working.”
Chelsea will make the trip to Azerbaijan to take on Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
