Jamie Carragher: Chelsea star is the best around, he’s an absolute superstar
The Liverpool FC legend believes Chelsea forward Eden Hazard's performance have gone under the radar this season
Jamie Carragher has claimed that Eden Hazard’s performances for Chelsea have gone under the radar so far this season.
The Belgium international missed the start of the 2017-18 season after he broke his ankle in May on national team duty.
Hazard scored 16 goals to help Chelsea win their first Premier League title under Antonio Conte with two games to spare last term.
The 26-year-old returned to the Blues team as a substitute in a 2-1 win at Leicester City in September but Conte didn’t rush Hazard back into his starting line-up.
Hazard’s first standout performance came in a 2-1 win at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in Spain before he scored twice in a 3-3 draw with AS Roma at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian was in superb form as Chelsea were 1-0 winners against Manchester United before the most-recent international break.
Hazard, though, reserved his performance of the season for last weekend’s trip to West Brom with an assist and a goal in a 4-0 winat The Hawthorns.
Speaking to Sky Sports as Hazard and Chelsea prepare to go to Liverpool on Saturday evening, Carragher explained why Hazard hasn’t got as much praise as he deserves.
“Yes [he’s back to peak fitness],” Carragher said.
“Hazard is playing as a No10 behind Morata. But he’s gone off the radar a little touch because of his injury. I thought he was player of the season last year.
“I think of all the No10s in the Premier League, I’d still have Hazard number one. He’s an absolute superstar.”
Hazard helped Chelsea to secure a 1-1 draw with Liverpool FC at Anfield on Saturday evening.
