Frank Lampard has warned Chelsea star Eden Hazard that he needs to score 30 goals a season to be considered truly world class.

The Belgium international returned from an ankle problem at the end of September to help Chelsea get their Premier League back on track.

Hazard scored Chelsea’s winner in a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth last weekend thanks to a brilliant low finish past former team-mate Asmir Begovic.

However, the Blues forward was powerless to prevent Chelsea from losing 3-0 to AS Roma in their Champions League clash on Tuesday night.

Hazard scored 14 times in 38 games in Chelsea’s title-winning season under Jose Mourinho in 2014-15 to win the PFA player of the year award.

The Blues forward netted 16 goals last term to help Antonio Conte lift the Premier League title in his first season in charge.

However, Chelsea’s record goal-scorer Lampard wants Hazard to score 30 plus goals a season to really challenge Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Messi and Ronaldo are competitive with themselves and each other,” Lampard told BT Sport. “They get every tiny little bit they can, whether it’s for themselves or their clubs.

“Hazard needs a little bit more of that. Can he push himself to get 30 goals a season? If he can do that, then he can move into the next bracket.”

Hazard moved to Chelsea ahead of Manchester City and Manchester United in a deal from Lille in the 2012 summer transfer window.

The Belgian star has won two Premier League titles during his five-season stay at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge in the Premier League this weekend.
