Gus Poyet is convinced that Chelsea will finish above Liverpool FC in the Premier League table this season, ahead of Saturday’s crunch clash between the two teams at Anfield.

The Blues head into the game fresh from their impressive and comfortable 4-0 victory over Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday night as Antonio Conte’s men booked their place in the last 16 of the competition.

Liverpool FC, meanwhile, are aiming to bounce back from the disappointment of their 3-3 draw with Sevilla in the Champions League, with Klopp’s men having led 3-0 at half-time.

Chelsea are currently three points ahead of Liverpool FC in the table, with Antonio Conte’s men in third place and nine points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games.

And former Chelsea man Poyet is fully expecting to see the Blues finish above Liverpool FC in the Premier League table this season.

Speaking to BetStars, Poyet said: “Well this is a simple one for me, I think Chelsea will finish higher [than Liverpool in the table], they have to.

“I hope they can win the title.”

Liverpool FC are aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season after they finished in fourth place under Jurgen Klopp last term.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are looking to defend their top-flight title after having won the competition in Conte’s first campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge last season.
