Jose Mourinho has told Chelsea fans that there is nothing special about Sunday’s clash with Manchester United other than the fact that it’s a game between two big teams.

The Portuguese coach is preparing to take his Red Devils side to Stamford Bridge as they look to continue their fine start to the new campaign under Mourinho.

Manchester United are currently five points behind leaders Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title as they look to establish themselves as the main contenders for the top flight crown this season.

There will be a number of subplots on Sunday, with Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata returning to their former club, as well as Mourinho himself.

However, the manager has moved to play down talk about the game having an effect on the trio and instead insisted that it is simply a big clash in the calendar.

Speaking to Sky Sports before the game, Mourinho said: “I think it’s a big game because it’s a big game not because I’ve been at Chelsea or Matic or Mata.

“It’s just because Chelsea are Champions and Manchester United are Manchester United.”

Manchester United head into this weekend’s round of games on the back of their 2-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Red Devils were also 1-0 winners over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in the Premier League as they signalled their status as genuine Premier League title contenders this season.
