N’Golo Kante has challenged his Chelsea team-mates to “keep going” in the Premier League title race as they look to try and claw their way back into contention.

Kante made his return from injury on Sunday as Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 thanks to Alvaro Morata’s second-half header at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have made something of a stuttering start to the new campaign under Antonio Conte, with the Blues already having lost three of their opening 11 Premier League games.

Conte’s side currently sit in fourth place in the Premier League table and nine points behind leaders Manchester City as they bid to try and defend their title this season.

The Blues are having to juggle their Premier League ambitions with a return to the Champions League as they also look to challenge on the European front this season.

Kante believes that Chelsea now simply have to get their heads down and start focusing on stringing together a series of consistent results as they bid to try and retain their title this season.

The midfielder is quoted as saying by the Daily Express: “The season is not bad. It was a bad defeat against Roma in the Champions League, but to qualify we need just one win.

“In the league, we are fourth and we just need to keep going.

“It was important to win against United – and we have to keep going now.”

Chelsea return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on West Brom at The Hawthorns.
