The 23-year-old signed for the Blues from Monaco in the summer transfer window as Conte opted to let Nemanja Matic leave Stamford Bridge to join Manchester United.
Bakayoko has been a regular fixture in the first team for the Blues since the move but he has attracted criticism for some lacklustre performances in recent weeks.
The midfielder was criticised by the likes of Frank Lampard for his quiet performance in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool FC at Anfield last weekend.
However, Conte insists that he fully believes in the France international and is tipping him to improve his form as he continues to get used to life at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking at a news conference before Chelsea’s clash with Swansea, Conte said: “Don’t forget Bakayoko is a very young player, only 23.
“For many reasons he played a lot of games and I think he needs to improve in the tactical aspect and grow into our idea of football.
“At the same time, for a young player to play with this regularity is not simple. He’s playing well and it’s normal you can alternate good performances with some less good.”
Chelsea are now preparing for their home Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Saturday lunchtime as they look to try and climb the table and keep pace with Manchester City.
The Blues successfully booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League last week when they secured a 4-0 win over Qarabag in Baku.
