Willian sends clear message to Chelsea fans about his future
Willian insists that he is very happy at Chelsea despite his lack of first-team opportunities this season
Willian has insisted that he is very happy at Chelsea despite his lack of first-team opportunities this season.
The Brazilian playmaker has found his starting opportunities to be somewhat restricted so far this term as he bids to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge.
Willian was the hero for Chelsea on Saturday when he came off the bench to score the equaliser for the Blues in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool FC at Anfield.
However, the attacker has still found his first-team opportunities to be limited this season – Willian has only started six of Chelsea’s first 13 games in the Premier League.
There is likely to be some speculation about Willian’s future at Chelsea if he is unable to hold down a regular spot in the first team.
But the player himself seems to be happy at Stamford Bridge, if his latest comments about his situation are anything to go by.
Willian is quoted as saying by Metro: “It’s a big honour for me to make 200 appearances for Chelsea, a big club.
“I’m really happy about that. It’s gone quickly. Already I’ve been here for four years and I have many great memories. I’ve won two Premier League titles and one League Cup, and now I hope to play more games and win more trophies.
“I’m happy because the whole team played well against Qarabag, not just me. It was a very important game, we did our job and I scored two goals, so I hope I can continue to play in that way.”
Chelsea return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Swansea City at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are looking to try and defend their Premier League title this season after having lifted the trophy in style last term in Conte’s first campaign at the club.
