Paul Merson is backing Chelsea to secure a resounding 4-0 win over Swansea City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The defending Premier League champions saw their four-game winning run come to an end at Anfield on Saturday evening following a 1-1 stalemate with Liverpool.

Chelsea had beaten Watford, Manchester United, Bournemouth and West Brom before Antonio Conte’s men made the long trip to Merseyside on Saturday evening.

Former Blues winger Mohamed Salah broke the deadlock for the home side in the second half before Chelsea substitute Willian levelled with five minutes remaining.

Chelsea will return to Premier League action on Wednesday night with a home clash against strugglers Swansea City at Stamford Bridge.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is convinced that Chelsea will have no problems dispatching Swansea at home in their Premier League clash on Wednesday night.

“The banker of the week this game,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“I thought Chelsea were fortunate against Liverpool, they had a spell in the game where they were good, both teams had their moments in the game at times.

“But I am going to go 4-0 to Chelsea, I can’t see anything other than a Chelsea win.

“I know Swansea went to Arsenal and could have gone 2-0 up and went to Tottenham and drew 0-0, but I just do not see them stopping Chelsea, who have got some great fixtures coming up.”

Chelsea have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons to dominate the English top flight.

The west London side signed six players to strengthen their squad ahead of the challenge of retaining their Premier League title and competing in the Champions League.

Chelsea haven’t won Europe’s top prize since 2012 when Roberto Di Matteo’s men beat Bayern Munich on penalties in the final at the Allianz Arena.
