Chelsea ready bid to sign top 24-year-old to replace key man – report
Chelsea are ready to make a move to sign Jack Butland if Thibaut Courtois leaves, according to reports

Chelsea are ready to make a move to sign Jack Butland as the speculation about Thibaut Courtois’ situation at Stamford Bridge continues, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the west London side are ready to make a move to sign the 24-year-old goalkeeper from Stoke, as Courtois continues to stall on signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The same report says that Chelsea are well aware that Courtois is attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid, and with his current deal set to expire in 2019, the west London side need to protect themselves should he opt to leave.
Courtois has developed a reputation as one of the finest goalkeepers in England at Chelsea and it remains to be seen whether he will sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
The same story claims that Chelsea wanted Butland when he was still at Birmingham City back in 2013 but he rejected their advances.
However, the report claims that should Courtois indeed leave Chelsea, it would mean that Butland would be likely to assume the number one role at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool FC in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday night.
