Antonio Conte wants Chelsea to sign Everton midfielder Ross Barkley as well as a new striker and left-back in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the Blues manager is hoping to strengthen his attacking options after missing out on Fernando Llorente in the summer.

The same article states that Conte wants cover for Marcos Alonso at left-back having added Davide Zappacosta to improve their options on the opposite wing.

According to the same story, Chelsea have retained their interest in England and Everton midfielder Barkley despite the playmaker turning down a move to the defending champions in the summer.

Chelsea are in third place in the Premier League table but 11 points behind current leaders Manchester City after 13 games.

Conte’s squad was stretched at the start of the season with Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater struggling with fitness problems following their summer moves.

Eden Hazard didn’t return until the end of September following a broken ankle at the end of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.

The defending champions impressed in a 1-0 win against bitter rivals Manchester United at Stamford Bridge thanks to Alvaro Morata’s 55th-minute winner at the end of October.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last five Premier League games and have a kind run of fixtures up until the start of 2018.
