Chelsea want to sign quality 24-year-old striker to partner Morata – report
Chelsea are keen on signing Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan, but a deal looks complicated, say reports
Chelsea want to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan to partner Alvaro Morata up front for the Blues, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the west London side have identified the 24-year-old Argentine attacker as the perfect man to line up alongside Morata and help fire Chelsea to a Premier League title defence.
However, the same report claims that Icardi is likely to cost Chelsea as much as £100m should they make a move in the January transfer window.
Icardi has been on fire for Inter Milan this season, scoring 11 goals and making one assist in 12 Serie A games.
The story also says that the player himself would rather secure a move to a Spanish club such as Real Madrid.
And a potential move is made more complicated by the likelihood that Inter Milan will be reluctant to let the star forward leave in the mid-season transfer window in January.
Chelsea are believed to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements this winter after the Blues opted to let Diego Costa leave the club to re-join Atletico Madrid.
The west London side, who are already nine points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the January transfer window draws ever nearer.
