Paul Scholes opens up about Paul Pogba ahead of Chelsea v Man United
Paul Scholes is tipping Paul Pogba to make a difference for Manchester United when he returns to action
Paul Scholes believes that Romelu Lukaku will be able to rediscover his top form for Manchester United when Paul Pogba makes his return from injury.
The French midfielder has been out injured since picking up a muscular problem during the Champions League win over Basel earlier this season.
It has not yet been confirmed when Pogba will be back in action for Jose Mourinho’s men but it’s fair to say that his absence has negatively affected the Red Devils.
And former Manchester United midfielder Scholes feels that Pogba’s absence from the side in recent weeks has negatively affected Lukaku’s form, with the Belgian striker having failed to score in his last six outings.
Speaking to BT Sport on Tuesday night, Scholes said: “I think Pogba will make a difference [when he returns].
“He will be more positive. He will try and play with the number 10. They can play one-twos and look for Lukaku’s runs.
“It’s not ideal to watch Lukaku. I think if Pogba comes back into the team, he will make a difference.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for their crunch clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon as they look to continue their strong start to the season.
Mourinho’s men are currently second in the table and five points behind leaders Manchester City after 10 games of the new campaign.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are fourth and nine points off top spot as they look to claw their way back into the title race under Antonio Conte.
