Frank Lampard replies when asked if Alberto Moreno will start Liverpool FC v Chelsea
The Chelsea legend believes Jurgen Klopp could keep faith with Liverpool FC left-back Alberto Moreno despite Sevilla horror show
Frank Lampard believes Jurgen Klopp could start Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno for the visit of Chelsea on Saturday evening.
The Spanish defender endured a miserable return to his former club Sevilla on Tuesday night as he made two mistakes to allow the La Liga side come from 3-0 down to rescue a 3-3 draw.
The Liverpool full-back only managed to recover his place in Klopp’s team at the start of the current season after James Milner deputised at left-back throughout the campaign.
Moreno has made a bright start to the season with his attacking performances earning the Liverpool defender plenty of praise.
The Liverpool full-back’s place in Klopp’s team could be under threat when Chelsea make the trip to Anfield in the Premier League.
However, former Chelsea defender Lampard believes Klopp could protect Moreno’s ailing confidence and start the Spanish star against the defending champions.
“It is a big call. I think he may play. Liverpool will play a different way at home,” Lampard told BT Sport.
“His manager will want to stick with him. The manager has defended him there and quite rightly. Maybe he will go again with him.”
Liverpool signed Moreno in a £14m deal from La Liga giants Sevilla in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The Reds defender struggled badly in Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to his former club Sevilla in the Europa League final in 2015.
