Hazard sends message to Salah ahead of Liverpool FC v Chelsea
The Chelsea forward is looking forward to facing his former team-mate at Liverpool on Saturday evening
Eden Hazard says he is excited to face his former Chelsea team-mate Mohamed Salah when the defending champions take on Liverpool FC at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Egypt international moved to Liverpool FC in a £39m deal from AS Roma in the summer transfer window to help address the lack of pace in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Salah has become the first Liverpool FC player to score nine goals in 12 games after the African forward scored twice in victories over West Ham and Southampton.
The 25-year-old has surprised his critics with 14 goals in 19 games in all competitions after Salah struggled during a six-month spell at Chelsea in 2014.
The Egypt international was part of the Chelsea team that won the Premier League title and the League Cup in 2014-15 despite having a limited impact on the team.
Hazard scored 14 times in Chelsea’s title-winning campaign under Jose Mourinho alongside Salah.
The Chelsea star admitted that he is relishing the chance to face his former Blues team-mate in the Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday evening.
“It’s always good to play against a friend,” Hazard told Chelsea’s website.
“It is good to have friends in this world, because in football you can’t have a lot of friends.
“When you are not playing in one club you need to go. All the players want to play. In this period, we had me, Willian, Oscar, Juan Mata also, so for him it was not easy, but he is a top player. We know the quality he has.
“You need a chance, and I remember he took his chance at Fiorentina, and I am just happy for him.”
Hazard has scored four times in his last four games in the Premier League to rival Salah as the division’s in-form player.
