Graeme Le Saux praised Mohamed Salah for a “lovely” goal after the Liverpool FC signing scored in a 1-1 draw with his former club Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Jurgen Klopp made wholesale changes for the visit of the Premier League champions after Liverpool FC squandered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with La Liga outfit Sevilla on Tuesday night.

The Egypt international retained his place in Klopp’s starting XI after Salah scored four goals in their last two Premier League victories over West Ham United and Southampton.

Salah spent six months at Chelsea before he moved to Fiorentina and then AS Roma on loan before he sealed a permanent move to the Italian capital in 2016.

And the African forward was alert to seize upon a Chelsea defensive mistake and break the deadlock midway through the second half with his 10th Premier League goal of the campaign.

Salah raced onto the loose ball and placed a confident finish past Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois before Willian equalised with a fortuitous strike in the 85th minute.

Former Chelsea defender Le Saux lavished praise on the summer signing for his composed finish in front of The Kop.

“It was brilliant awareness by Salah,” Le Saux told NBC.

“He kept his eye on the ball.

“He placed his finish under Courtois. It was a lovely finish.”

Salah has scored 10 goals in 13 games in the Premier League following his £39m move to Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer.

The Reds moved to within a point of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur after their 1-1 draw with the defending champions.
