Ian Wright states his prediction for Liverpool FC v Chelsea
The Arsenal legend is tipping Chelsea to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday evening
Ian Wright is backing Chelsea to beat Liverpool FC in their Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Reds endured a turbulent 90 minutes in Spain on Tuesday night after Liverpool squandered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Sevilla.
Liverpool eased into a commanding position thanks to Roberto Firmino’s goals either side of Sadio Mane’s brilliant header.
Alberto Moreno cost Liverpool two goals before Sevilla equalised in the second minute of added time to prevent the Reds from securing a place in the knockout stage.
The Merseyside outfit have been in good form in the Premier League following victories over Huddersfield Town, West Ham United and Southampton.
Chelsea have been on an impressive run, too, following four successive wins with a 4-0 rout of West Brom at The Hawthorns last weekend.
Worryingly for Jurgen Klopp’s defence, Eden Hazard scored twice and made an assist against the Baggies as he continued to build a growing understanding with Alvaro Morata.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Chelsea are favourites ahead of the Premier League clash at Anfield on Saturday evening.
“You have to worry for Liverpool because you know that Chelsea will be ruthless against them,” Wright told The Debate on Sky Sports.
“Even if Liverpool do score a couple of goals, Chelsea will fancy themselves to get back into the game because that’s how you’d feel against Liverpool right now.”
Liverpool collected four points from their Premier League fixtures against Chelsea last season after a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge before a 1-1 draw at Anfield with the champions.
