Adam Lallana is closing in on a return to action for Liverpool FC after his lengthy lay-off with a thigh injury, according to reports in the British media.
Metro is reporting that Lallana is due to play in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Liverpool’s training ground next week as he bids to get his fitness levels up to scratch as soon as possible.
Lallana has not made a single appearance for Liverpool so far this season after suffering the injury in pre-season and the Reds will be keen to welcome him back into their squad ahead of the hectic festive period in the Premier League.
The same report claims that the England midfielder is hoping to make himself available for selection for Liverpool’s clash against Southampton after the international break on Saturday 18 November.
Liverpool have been hit by a number of injuries to key players in recent weeks, with the likes of Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho having joined Lallana on the sidelines.
The Reds secured an impressive 4-1 victory over West Ham in the Premier League at the London Stadium last weekend as they moved up into fifth place in the table, leaving them 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
