Rio Ferdinand: What Liverpool FC must do before Chelsea clash
Rio Ferdinand warns Jurgen Klopp that he has some serious work to do ahead of Liverpool FC v Chelsea
Rio Ferdinand has warned Jurgen Klopp that he must quickly pick up his Liverpool FC players as they prepare to take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Reds suffered the disappointment of squandering a 3-0 half-time lead to draw 3-3 with Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday night as their defensive display was heavily criticised.
Liverpool FC now turn their attentions towards shoring up their rearguard ahead of their crunch clash against the west London side at Anfield this weekend.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has talked up the importance of Klopp quickly rallying his players ahead of their clash with Antonio Conte’s men.
Speaking to BT Sport after Liverpool FC’s draw with Sevilla, ex-defender Ferdinand said: “No matter what this will feel like a loss.
“The problem is the hangover it might have at the weekend. They’ve got a huge game against Chelsea.
“What will this [the Sevilla result] do to the morale and the mentality of this football team? Jurgen Klopp has to pick them up.”
Liverpool FC head into the game looking to build on their comfortable and impressive 3-0 victory over Southampton at Anfield last weekend.
The Reds are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games of the new campaign.
Liverpool FC booked their place in the Champions League this season by finishing in fourth place in the Premier League in Jurgen Klopp’s first full campaign in charge last term.
