Liverpool FC suffer fresh injury blow ahead of Southampton clash
Liverpool FC defender Nathaniel Clyne will be out of action for up to three months after having had surgery on a back problem
Liverpool FC have suffered a fresh injury blow ahead of their home clash with Southampton at the weekend after Nathaniel Clyne was ruled out for up to three months after having surgery on a back injury.
The 26-year-old defender suffered the injury during a pre-season clash back in July and has not featured for the Reds so far this season.
Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been filling in for Clyne in his absence, and it now looks as though the defender is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
BBC Sport is reporting that Clyne will now miss around three months as he begins his rehabilitation from the operation this month.
It means that Liverpool FC will be without Clyne for the hectic festive schedule in the Premier League as the Reds look to try and climb the table.
The Merseyside outfit are preparing to host Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon as they look to move their way back up the table.
The Reds were in impressive form before the international break when they produced a sparkling performance in a 4-1 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium earlier in the month.
Liverpool FC are currently fifth in the table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
