The Daily Mirror is claiming that the 18-year-old recently visited Liverpool’s Melwood training ground and was greeted by Jurgen Klopp, Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho.
The highly-rated teenager only signed a new contract with Bayer Leverkusen back in July but Liverpool have recently “stepped up” their interest in the player, according to the same report.
However, the report also claims that suggestions he has already visited Melwood are premature, although it does seem that the Merseyside outfit do have an interest in landing the player.
Attacking midfielder Havertz has made three assists in eight Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen so far this season.
Liverpool are likely to be linked with a number of players in the coming weeks as the January transfer window edges ever nearer.
The Reds ended up signing four players in the summer transfer window, but have made something of a stuttering start to the new campaign, with Klopp’s men currently fifth in the table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool return to Premier League action next weekend with a home clash against Southampton at Anfield.
