Klopp shouldn’t play Liverpool FC star at centre-half, warns Waddle
The Spurs legend warns Jurgen Klopp about using Joe Gomez at centre-half in the Liverpool FC team

Jurgen Klopp should resist the temptation to use Joe Gomez at centre-half for Liverpool FC, according to Chris Waddle.
Gomez has seized his chance to impress Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp following his return from a serious knee problem.
The Reds defender was sidelined for almost 24 months after he ruptured his cruciate ligament in an England Under-21 game.
Gomez’s season-ending injury in October 2015 came a matter of days after Klopp was confirmed as Brendan Rodgers’ successor.
However, the 20-year-old has battled his way into first-team contention this season following his full recovery from the knee injury.
Gomez has deputised at right-back in the absence of England international Nathaniel Clyne with one assist in eight appearances in the Premier League.
England boss Gareth Southgate handed Gomez his debut in a goalless draw with Germany before he managed to keep Neymar quiet in 0-0 stalemate with Brazil on Tuesday night.
Gomez was part of a back three and his performance against the world’s most-expensive player attracted particular attention.
Former Spurs midfielder Waddle doesn’t believe Gomez would get sufficient protection in the Liverpool FC team to thrive at centre-half.
“People will be asking why doesn’t he play at centre-half for Liverpool,” Waddle told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“I can see a lot of fans will be thinking that as Liverpool have defensive problems. But he would be exposed a lot more. Liverpool go forward like Brazil.”
Liverpool FC have conceded 17 goals in 12 games in the Premier League this term.
