Jurgen Klopp told 20-year-old is Liverpool FC’s best centre-half
Tim Sherwood believes Jurgen Klopp should be using Joe Gomez at centre-half for Liverpool FC

Joe Gomez is the best centre-half at Liverpool FC, Tim Sherwood has claimed.
The Reds have struggled defensively in the 2017-18 season so far after conceding 16 times in six Premier League games on the road.
Liverpool FC were heavily linked with a move to sign Southampton captain Virgil van Dijk in the summer transfer window.
However, the Reds were unable to get a deal over the line despite the former Celtic defender handing in a transfer request at St Mary’s.
Klopp has utilised Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip as his first-choice centre-half partnership but the duo have struggled with confidence and form.
The Croatia international produced a disastrous performance in Liverpool FC’s embarrassing 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley last month.
Klopp has taken Lovren out of the firing line in recent weeks, while Van Dijk has been touted as a January target for the Reds.
England boss Gareth Southgate handed Gomez his debut in a goalless draw with Germany before he managed to keep Neymar quiet in 0-0 stalemate with Brazil on Tuesday night.
Indeed, the Liverpool FC star was named man of the match as he played on the right side of a three-man defence.
Former Spurs boss Sherwood suggested that Gomez could be the answer to Klopp’s centre-half headache.
“If you asked me who is the best centre half at Liverpool FC at the moment, I would say Joe Gomez,” Sherwood told The Debate on Sky Sports.
“Will he get a chance to play given the players at the club? I would suggest not. He will get limited game time.”
