The Brazil international was linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window as the Catalan side looked to reunite the attacking midfielder with Suarez at Camp Nou.
Barcelona made a number of offers for the 25-year-old attacker but Liverpool refused to contemplate selling their prized asset ahead of a return to the Champions League.
Coutinho even handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force through a move to the La Liga giants but Liverpool refused to budge and denied the Brazilian his move to Spain.
The former Inter Milan playmaker missed the start of the season with a back injury before he scored a brilliant free-kick on his return to the Liverpool starting line-up in a 3-2 win at Leicester City.
Coutinho has also scored against Spartak Moscow, Newcastle United and Maribor, while the number 10 has made three assists in all competition since his return to the Liverpool team.
Former Liverpool striker Suarez praised Coutinho for committing himself to the Reds’ cause for the 2017-18 season.
“He went through a difficult and very complicated moment but as a professional he continued to show how good a player he is and the personal quality he has,” Suarez told Mundo Deportivo.
“Despite trying to leave Liverpool he continued helping the team and working. He is demonstrating as a professional who has the ambition to take a step further.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term.
