Roy Keane delivers blunt Liverpool FC assessment ahead of Chelsea clash
The Man United legend delivers a withering verdict on Liverpool FC ahead of the visit of Chelsea this weekend
Roy Keane doesn’t believe Liverpool FC have the necessary quality to beat Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday evening.
The Reds will be looking to record a fourth successive Premier League win following emphatic victories over Huddersfield Town, West Ham United and Southampton.
Liverpool produced a sensational first-half performance to leave Jurgen Klopp’s men 3-0 up at half-time before a collapse in final 45 minutes saw Sevilla rescue a 3-3 draw in their penultimate Champions League group stage clash.
The Merseyside outfit were 4-0 winners against Arsenal in the Premier League at Anfield back in August before Liverpool FC were held to a goalless home draw with Manchester United.
Manchester City cemented their place at the top of the table with a resounding 5-0 win against Klopp’s men back in September, while Tottenham Hotspur eased to a 4-1 victory over Liverpool FC at Wembley last month.
Former Manchester United captain Keane claimed that Klopp’s side don’t have the right mentality to win big games.
Keane told ITV Sport: “Liverpool will win a lot of football matches, but when it comes to the big games they’re going to come up short because they’ve got a couple of defenders who just aren’t good enough and they’ll always get found out.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a spot in the Champions League.
The Reds signed four players in the summer transfer window to bolster their squad ahead of a return to Europe’s top competition.
