Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is tipping Sadio Mane to fire Liverpool FC back up the Premier League table following his return from injury.

The Senegal forward made his return to the starting line-up for the Reds at the London Stadium on Saturday night as he helped to inspire them to a 4-1 victory over West Ham United.

Mane was a threat throughout and he set Liverpool on their way towards victory when his searing pace allowed him to set up Mohamed Salah for the opener in east London.

It doesn’t look like it will take Mane long to get back to full fitness and Oxlade-Chamberlain has spoken about the importance of having the attacker back available for the Merseyside outfit.

Speaking to LFC TV after Saturday’s game, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “For someone to come back from an injury, not train too long and put in a performance like that – when I’m sure he’s not even at his best, not at full match fitness – you can’t really tell.

“He was sharp as ever and got two assists. He was a real threat all day, running and driving with the ball, getting free-kicks.

“He has definitely been a miss and it’s great to see him back. I’m sure in the next few games he can keep improving and being as deadly as he has been.”

Liverpool will return to Premier League action after the international break when the Reds take on Southampton at Anfield on Saturday 18 November.

The Reds are currently sixth in the Premier League table as they look to claw their way back into the title race following a stuttering start to the new campaign.

Midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain signed for the Reds from Arsenal back on transfer deadline day in August.
