Rio Ferdinand opens up about Daniel Sturridge at Liverpool FC
Rio Ferdinand discusses Daniel Sturridge's situation at Liverpool FC under Jurgen Klopp
Rio Ferdinand has insisted that there can be no doubts about Daniel Sturridge’s quality as a striker at Liverpool FC
The England international was handed a rare start in the Premier League on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp opted to play him from the off against Chelsea at Anfield.
The 28-year-old has found his first team opportunities under Klopp to be somewhat restricted this season, with Sturridge having only started five of Liverpool FC’s 13 Premier League games so far this term.
Sturridge played for 66 minutes against his former club Chelsea and ex-Manchester United defender Ferdinand is clearly a keen admirer of the forward.
Speaking to BT Sport, Ferdinand said of Sturridge: “I think his quality is undoubted. He can deliver when need be. The problem is the minutes.”
Sturridge will be hoping to start once again when Liverpool FC return to Premier League action on Wednesday night with a trip to the bet365 Stadium to take on Stoke City.
The Reds are aiming to climb the Premier League table after last weekend’s round of fixtures left Klopp’s side in sixth place and 14 points behind leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place last season, but the Reds are yet to win a trophy under Klopp following his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Anfield back in October 2015.
