Rio Ferdinand sends warning to Jurgen Klopp ahead of Liverpool FC v Chelsea
Rio Ferdinand discusses Liverpool FC's defensive problems ahead of the visit of Chelsea to Anfield
Rio Ferdinand has warned Jurgen Klopp that he must quickly address the defensive issues in his Liverpool FC team ahead of their crunch clash with Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday.
The Reds let a three-goal lead slip after having led 3-0 at half-time in Spain against Sevilla in the Champions League on Tuesday night as their defence was put under the spotlight once again.
Liverpool FC have conceded more goals than any other teams in the Premier League above them in the table and they stuttering form at the back has been a cause for concern in recent weeks.
The Reds do not have long to dust themselves down as they prepare for their crunch clash against Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday evening.
And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has talked up the importance of Liverpool FC addressing their defensive issues ahead of their clash against Chelsea this weekend.
Speaking to BT Sport after Tuesday night’s game, Ferdinand said: “What does is it breeds doubt in the team.
“Every goal [against Sevilla] could have been prevented.
“It is a crucial time these couple of days before the weekend.
“It is down to the management and leaders in the dressing room to galvanise and lift the squad up. They have to take some positives.”
Liverpool FC head into their game against Chelsea looking to build on their 3-0 victory over Southampton at Anfield last weekend.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have also been in good form of late, and wrapped up victories over both Manchester United and West Brom in recent weeks to lift them up to third place in the Premier League table.
