Mark Lawrenson names 25-year-old Liverpool FC star as ‘signing of the season’
The Liverpool FC legend talks up the impact of Mohamed Salah at Anfield
Mark Lawrenson believes Liverpool FC forward Mohamed Salah is easily the signing of the season.
The Reds signed the Egypt international in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the summer transfer window.
Salah arrived at Liverpool FC following an impressive three-season spell in Italy following loan moves to Fiorentina and Roma before a permanent switch to the Italian capital.
Liverpool FC’s decision to sign Salah was met with some skepticism given his poor spell at defending Premier League champions Chelsea in 2014 before heading out on loan.
However, the 25-year-old has scored 15 times in 20 games in all competitions following his double in a 3-0 win over Southampton and goal against Chelsea in a 1-1 draw last weekend.
Salah has netted 10 times in 13 games in the Premier League to lead the way in the goal-scoring charts ahead of Spurs striker Harry Kane, Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata and Man United signing Romelu Lukaku.
Asked whether Salah was the signing of the season so far, former Liverpool defender Lawrenson replied: “Yes.”
Liverpool are looking to build upon a fourth-place finish in the Premier League last term which secured a return to the Champions League.
The Reds will make the trip to face Stoke City in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
