Luis Suarez opens up about Philippe Coutinho leaving Liverpool FC
Luis Suarez reveals that he is a huge admirer of Liverpool FC star Philippe Coutinho as he continues to be linked with Barcelona
Luis Suarez has admitted that Philippe Coutinho would bring “a lot” to the Barcelona team if he were to finally complete his move to the Camp Nou from Liverpool FC in the future.
The Brazilian playmaker was heavily linked with a transfer to the Spanish club during the summer window but a move ended up not materialising for him.
Coutinho was believed to be very keen on a move to Barcelona and is reported to have handed in a transfer request in a bid to try and force through the switch.
However, Liverpool held firm and decided not to sell the 25-year-old playmaker to the Spanish club.
There is bound to be plenty of fresh speculation linking Coutinho with a move to Barcelona as the January transfer window draws nearer.
And former Liverpool star Suarez, who himself left Anfield to sign for Barcelona back in the summer of 2014, believes that Coutinho would bring a lot to the Spanish side.
Suarez told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo when asked what Coutinho could bring to the Spanish club: “A lot.
“I know him as a person and as a player because I played with him, but everyone knows what Coutinho can contribute.
“He is a footballer, who today, plays at a very high level.”
Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
The Reds return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Southampton at Anfield on 18 November.
