Michael Owen: What I really think about Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool FC
Michael Owen offers his backing for Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp but questions the Reds' defence

Michael Owen has offered his backing to Jurgen Klopp but says that the Liverpool FC manager’s main issue is a weak defence.
The Reds were heavily linked with a number of defensive signings in the summer transfer window but Klopp only ended up signing Andy Robertson from Hull City at the back.
Liverpool were thought to be close to securing a deal to land defender Virgil van Dijk from Southampton before they were forced to publicly withdraw their interest after being accused of an alleged illegal approach by the Saints.
Klopp is now well into his second full campaign in charge at Anfield since being appointed on Merseyside back in October 2015.
The German coach will be hoping for his team to build on their fourth-placed finish in the Premier League table last season as they look to mount a title challenge.
And although Owen admits that he is a big admirer of Liverpool boss Klopp, he feels that he failed to address his side’s defensive concerns in the January transfer window.
Speaking to Omnisport, Owen said: “Jurgen Klopp is doing a good job, I think he is very popular.
“The problem with Liverpool at the moment is in defence.
“I think Jurgen Klopp knows it and he tried to remedy that problem over the summer but couldn’t get the one or two targets that he had.
“And that’s unfortunately been the problem.”
Liverpool, who were 4-1 winners over West Ham last weekend, return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Southampton at Anfield.
