Frank Lampard: Liverpool FC star is a completely different player now
Frank Lampard explains why he has been so impressed by Mohamed Salah's start to life at Liverpool FC
Frank Lampard has lavished praise on Mohamed Salah for the improvements he has shown since he left Chelsea now that he is shining at Liverpool FC.
The Egypt international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking players this season after having signed for Liverpool from Roma in the summer transfer window.
Salah joined Roma after having struggled to break into the first team at Chelsea while Lampard was still playing at the club.
The winger was named as the man of the match as he scored twice in Liverpool’s 4-1 win over West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday night.
The 25-year-old has now scored seven goals and made two assists in his first 11 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, and his former team-mate Lampard has been hugely impressed by his upturn in form in recent seasons.
Speaking to BT Sport after Liverpool’s win over West Ham, Lampard said: “He’s come on a huge amount [since his time at Chelsea].
“He was a pretty young lad and I think the move came quite early in his career. At a club like Chelsea it’s not easy and he was up against Eden Hazard, Oscar and Juan Mata. It was tough for him to come and play.
“He went away and he’s come on leaps and bounds. He’s found confidence and personality and as a young player that’s normal.
“He’s a completely different player to the one who was at Chelsea – and credit to him for that.”
Liverpool return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Southampton at Anfield on Saturday 18 November.
The Reds, who finished fourth last season, are currently fifth in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
