Steven Gerrard: My thoughts on Liverpool FC’s draw with Chelsea

Steven Gerrard claimed that Liverpool FC fans should be proud of their players after the Reds were pegged back by Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
After a goalless first half at Anfield, Liverpool FC took the lead in the 65th minute when Mohamed Salah latched onto Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s poked pass and slotted home.
It looked as if it would be enough for Liverpool FC to claim all three points, but the visitors managed to equalise when Willian’s cross-shot ended up deceiving Simon Mignolet and landed in the back of the net.
It meant that the two sides had to share the spoils at Anfield after an entertaining game on Merseyside.
And Liverpool FC legend Gerrard offered his honest assessment about the game after the final whistle.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the match, Gerrard said: “The Liverpool fans will be frustrated, especially after taking the lead so late on, and then to concede in the 85th minute is another blow.
“But I think they’ll be proud of the players’ reaction and the effort they gave today.
“It was two good sides going at each other and it was a fascinating game tactically. It was probably a fair result.”
Liverpool FC will aim to get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Wednesday night when they travel to the bet365 Stadium to take on Stoke City.
The Reds are aiming to try and better their fourth-placed finish in the Premier League from last season this time around.
Liverpool FC are yet to win a trophy under Jurgen Klopp since his appointment back in October 2015.
