Steven Gerrard makes prediction about Liverpool FC signings in January
Steven Gerrard says Liverpool FC will make the signings they need in the January transfer window
Steven Gerrard is convinced that Liverpool FC will make the necessary signings in the January transfer window if the right players become available.
The Reds were heavily linked with a number of players in the summer transfer window and ended up making four signings, as well as securing the capture of Naby Keita from RB Leipzig at the end of this season.
Liverpool were heavily linked with a move to sign Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk over the summer but a switch for the Netherlands international failed to materialise.
There is bound to be fresh speculation linking Liverpool with a new bid to sign Van Dijk, as well as other players, as the January transfer window edges closer.
Liverpool’s defensive frailties is one area Jurgen Klopp could look to address in the new year.
And former Liverpool captain Gerrard believes that the Reds will go all out to make the signings they require if the right players become available.
Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard said: “Knowing Liverpool, and being a player there for many years, if they see a player who will improve improve them, whether that’s defensively or anywhere in the squad, they’ll go and make the move.”
Gerrard was speaking after watching Liverpool claim an impressive 4-1 win over West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday night to move up to fifth place in the table.
The Reds are 12 points behind leaders Manchester City in the Premier League table.
