Steven Gerrard opens up about Liverpool FC star: He’s awesome, his touch is world class
Steven Gerrard admits he is a huge fan of Sadio Mane and rates him as one of Liverpool FC's top players
Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is a huge fan of Sadio Mane and he rates him as one of Liverpool FC’s most important players.
The Senegal international made his return to the first team for the Reds on Saturday when he started the game and helped to inspire Jurgen Klopp’s men to a 4-1 victory at West Ham United.
Mane has developed into a key player for Liverpool since signing for the Reds from Southampton last year and it was his blistering pace which allowed him to set up Mohamed Salah for the opener at the London Stadium.
Liverpool have struggled in recent weeks while Mane was out injured and Gerrard admits that he is a huge admirer of the 25-year-old.
Speaking to BT Sport on Saturday, Gerrard said: “He’s awesome. He’s great to watch.
“I’m not saying it from a biased point of view but he’s the type of player you’d pay big money to go and watch every single week.
“He’s great on the eye, and so quick. He makes things happen. And for someone so quick, to do what he does with his touch is world-class.”
Liverpool’s win at West Ham United left the Reds in fifth place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 games of the new campaign.
The Merseyside outfit return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Southampton on Saturday 18 November.
The Reds finished fourth under Jurgen Klopp last season as they secured a return to the Champions League under the German coach.
