Liverpool FC are ready to make a move to sign Kara Mbodji from Anderlecht if their fail in their bid to sign Virgil van Dijk, according to reports in Turkey.
Turkish Football, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Reds have identified the 28-year-old defender as a potential alternative to Van Dijk as Jurgen Klopp looks to strengthen his rearguard options at Anfield.
Mbodji is reportedly worth a transfer fee of around £10m and Brighton are also said to be keen on bringing the defender to the Premier League.
The same story claims that some unnamed Serie A and Turkish Super Lig clubs have also been keeping tabs on Mbodji’s progress of late.
Liverpool FC are believed to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements in January after the Reds failed in their bid to sign Van Dijk from Southampton in the summer.
The Netherlands defender was believed to be keen on a move to Anfield but a transfer failed to materialise after Southampton accused the Reds of an alleged illegal approach.
Liverpool FC have failed to convince with their defensive performances this season and Klopp is thought to be keen to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.
