Sami Hyypia sends direct message to Emre Can about Liverpool FC future
The former Liverpool FC captain tells Emre Can to stay at the Anfield outfit and help Jurgen Klopp make the Reds great again
Sami Hyypia has urged Emre Can to remain at Liverpool and help Jurgen Klopp transform the Anfield outfit into a top European side again.
The Germany international is facing an uncertain future at the 18-time English champions after entering the final 12 months of his current Liverpool deal.
Can has been linked with a potential move to Serie A champions Juventus over the past few months, while there has been talk of a potential return to the Bundesliga.
The 23-year-old scored Liverpool’s second goal in a 3-0 victory over Slovenian opponents Maribor in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night.
Can has now netted two goals in six appearances in the Champions League this term, while he has made two assists in eight Premier League games.
Former Liverpool captain Hyypia worked with Can during his spell in charge of Bayer Leverkusen.
And the retired Finnish defender urged Can to remain at Liverpool to help Klopp restore the Reds to their former glory.
“He should stay and make Liverpool a top European side,” Hyypia told BT Sport.
Can moved to Liverpool in an £8.75m deal from Bayer Leverkusen in the 2015 summer transfer window under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but won the Champions League in 2005.
