Jamie Carragher took to social media to praise Sadio Mane after he helped to inspire Liverpool to victory at West Ham upon his return from injury.

The Senegal international has been out injured in recent weeks with a hamstring injury but was restored to the starting line-up for the Reds’ trip to the London Stadium.

Liverpool raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half in east London as Mane led a swift counter-attack from a West Ham corner, before he slid in Mohamed Salah to score the opener in the 21st minute.

The Reds then doubled their lead moments later when Joel Matip finished from close range from a corner.

Manuel Lanzini pulled a goal back in the 55th minute, only for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to score a third for Liverpool moments later.

And Salah added a fourth in the 76th minute with a superb left-footed shot.

Mane is widely regarded as one of Liverpool’s most important attacking players and former Reds star Carragher clearly approved of what he was seeing from the African forward on his return to the starting line-up as he linked up with Salah.

Carragher tweeted after the goal went in: “Salah Mane 💨💨 #WHULIV.”

Saturday’s win left Liverpool on 19 points and in sixth place in the Premier League table after 11 games of the new campaign.

The Reds are next in Premier League action after the international break when they take on Southampton at Anfield on Saturday 18 November.

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season.
