Martin Keown believes Aaron Ramsey will be key to Arsenal’s hopes of securing a positive result against Manchester City at The Etihad this weekend.

The Wales international has made a brilliant start to the 2017-18 Premier League season following his return to full fitness at the north London outfit.

Ramsey has scored three goals and has made two assists in nine appearances in the Premier League this term as Arsene Wenger continued to give the Welshman license to roam.

Arsenal have managed to piece together some decent form following a disastrous start to the 2017-18 campaign.

The Gunners lost 1-0 at Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium back in August before a resounding 4-0 defeat the hands of Liverpool at Anfield.

The FA Cup holders will make the trip to Premier League leaders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this weekend hoping to avoid a humiliation at the hands of Pep Guardiola’s team.

Former Arsenal defender Keown believes Ramsey will be the key man if the Gunners are going to have any chance of springing a surprise against the Citizens this weekend.

“Ramsey holds the key against Manchester City on Sunday,” Keown told the Daily Mail.

“Yes, he arrives late in the box to score but does he get back alongside his midfield partner in time when Arsenal do not have the ball?

“He cannot afford to vacate the midfield for too long against City. While Ramsey possesses such a great attacking threat, if he leaves Granit Xhaka exposed on Sunday then De Bruyne and Silva will destroy Arsenal.”

Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term after missing out on the Champions League this season.
