Michael Owen states his prediction for Man United v Brighton
The Liverpool legend is tipping Manchester United to ease to victory over Brighton on Saturday
Michael Owen is backing Paul Pogba to help Manchester United secure a comfortable win over Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils were 4-1 winners against Newcastle United last weekend thanks to goals from Pogba, Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku.
However, Manchester United slipped to a surprise 1-0 loss to Swiss outfit Basel in the Champions League group stage mid-week.
Jose Mourinho’s side have only recorded three victories in their last seven games to raise some concerns about their form heading into the Premier League this weekend.
The 20-time English champions will be looking to cut Manchester City’s lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Brighton have lost three of their six Premier League games on the road this season in what has been a solid start to life in the English top flight.
Former Liverpool striker Owen is backing Manchester United to beat Chris Hughton’s Brighton side at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
“Manchester United are unbeaten in their last 38 games at Old Trafford and it is hard to see how newly promoted Brighton can stop Jose Mourinho’s side,” Owen told BetVictor.
“The return of the influential and mercurial Paul Pogba was a key factor in an impressive United performance against Newcastle last weekend and he is as important to United as Kevin de Bruyne is to title rivals Manchester City.
“I can’t see past another emphatic home win.”
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term.
The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup in their first season under Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United are eight points behind Manchester City at the top of the table.
