Man United starlet admits he’s unsure about Old Trafford return
Andreas Pereira says he wants to stay at Valencia on loan until the end of the season and fight for his place
Andreas Pereira has admitted that he would rather stay on loan at Valencia until the end of the season instead of returning to Manchester United early.
The 21-year-old was shipped out on loan to the Spanish side on transfer deadline day back in August as he bids to earn some regular playing time with the La Liga club.
Pereira has scored one goal and made three assists in nine La Liga appearances for Valencia so far this season.
There have been suggestions that Manchester United could opt to recall the attacking midfielder back to Old Trafford before the end of his loan spell next summer.
However, the player himself says that he would much rather finish the season with the Spanish club.
Pereira is quoted as saying by Metro: “In my head I want to be here, help Valencia until June. It is the thought with which I came.
“I know that I have this clause in the assignment contract and now I have to wait to see. But my mind is focused on Valencia and I want to stay here.
“It is important that I am playing to grow, be better and help Valencia. It would be very difficult to return to United mid-year and continue with the same evolution that I’m having now.”
Manchester United return to Premier League action on Saturday with a home clash against Newcastle United.
The Red Devils head into their game with the Magpies looking to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of their 1-0 loss to Chelsea before the international break.
Manchester United are currently second in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of pace-setters and bitter local rivals Manchester City.
