Andy Cole has described Anthony Martial’s talent as “frightening” following the Frenchman’s performance in a 4-1 win against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The France international started in the same starting XI as summer signing Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford for the first time in the Premier League this season.

Dwight Gayle scored a surprise opener for the Magpies before Martial’s header levelled the Premier League clash with a powerful header in the 37th minute.

Rashford teed up Paul Pogba to extend Manchester United’s lead to 3-1 before Lukaku netted the home side’s fourth goal to wrap up three points.

Martial has made a promising start to the season following a return of five goals and two assists in 11 appearances in the Premier League this season.

Former Manchester United striker Cole talked up Martial’s talent following his impressive start to the season.

“I’m hoping he [Martial] is going to be there a long time,” Cole told ESPN.

“If you look at the talent that kid’s got, it’s absolutely frightening. He’s got great feet, scores goals and creates goals.”

Manchester United ended up in sixth place in the Premier League last term to miss out on a place in the Champions League.

Martial moved to the Red Devils in a £36m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the summer transfer window.

The 20-time English champions are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2013.
