Anthony Martial has vowed to do all he can to win a regular starting spot in the first team at Manchester United.

The France international has found his first team opportunities to be somewhat limited this season under Jose Mourinho but he has made a solid impact when coming on as a substitute.

Martial came off the bench to score the winner in Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford last weekend.

The 21-year-old will be hoping to do what he can to hold down more of a regular starting spot in the first team at Old Trafford in the coming weeks and months.

And the Frenchman is clearly determined to do what he can to prove himself as worthy of a regular spot to manager Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Martial told Manchester United’s website ahead of Sunday’s trip to Chelsea: “At the moment, I’m happy, even if I could have done more, scored more goals and made more decisive passes. But I’m happy.

“I think the difference is that last year I didn’t have a good season but, for now, things are going pretty well. I’m achieving my objectives and I hope to score a lot more by the end of the season.

“I must continue to keep up good performances for my club and if I’ve got the chance to start over there [for France] I will do the best I can.”

“I think when I come on to the pitch as a sub, I’m hungry, desperate to play. I want to get some action, to score, to make some key passes, I want to give everything I can to help the team.”

Martial will be hoping to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Newcastle United on Saturday 18 November.

The Red Devils are aiming to win the Premier League for the first time this season since their final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
